Mrs. Christine J. Berg - Vice President
Christine Berg holds the office of Clerk of the Board of Trustees with her term beginning in 2022. Her term expires in 2026. She represents Trustee Area 2. After graduating from UCLA with her degree in Theater Arts and receiving her teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton, she and her husband settled in this area. She has been a member of the Lowell Joint School District for over forty years. As a Lowell Joint mom, teacher, and grandmother she has a unique view of this district. Mrs. Berg's three children attended Lowell Joint Schools including Macy Elementary, El Portal Elementary and Rancho Starbuck Intermediate School. She has two grandchildren currently attending El Portal and Rancho Starbuck. Mrs. Berg was very active in Macy PTA and served as Vice President and Secretary during her time there. She was an Honorary Service Award recipient during her years at Macy Elementary.
Mrs. Berg was offered a teaching position at El Portal Elementary and was part of the teachers and administrators that re-opened El Portal in 1996. During her years at El Portal, Mrs. Berg taught first and third grade. She helped develop programs that supported struggling students, rewarded student effort, and recognized academic excellence. She wrote and directed the yearly talent show, created an award winning butterfly garden with her third grade students, and was named Teacher of the Year in 2006. In 2007, Mrs. Berg moved to Rancho Starbuck where she taught eighth grade ELA and Beginning and Advanced Drama. During her years at Rancho, Mrs. Berg served as eighth grade ELA team leader. She was also part of the team that researched and developed Rancho's award winning intervention and enrichment Flex Program. Always passionate about student enrichment and success, Mrs. Berg was a member of the team that created Rancho's Pre AP/IB and Conservatory of Fine Arts programs. She introduced the annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest sponsored by Chapman University as part of the Honors ELA curriculum. Mrs. Berg was an Honorary Service Award Recipient and LJSD Impact Award recipient in 2019.
