Dr. Anthony A. Zegarra - President
The Board of Trustees of the Lowell Joint School District appointed Dr. Anthony Zegarra to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Fred Schambeck, who served for 38 years. He represents Trustee Area 3. His current term now expires in 2028.
Mr. Zegarra is married to his wonderful wife Heather and he has three children; Charlie, Miles and Elliot who attend Macy Elementary. Mr. Zegarra received his Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and serves as the Principal of the Griffith Middle School in Downey. Mr. Zegarra and his family have been involved in a wide range of activities supporting Macy Elementary School. He has served as a governing Board Member on the Kiwanis - Downey Los Amigos Club for the past six years; most recently, he has supported and contributed his time to Relay for Life, PTA Helps Food Banks, TLC 5K and Kiwanis shopping events for students with disabilities.
Mr. Zegarra shared that his "philosophy of education is that every child deserves the opportunity to have available the best possible education. It is also the responsibility of the administration to provide a safe environment to learn and grow."
